Can referees remove a goal in football/soccer?

No. Once play is restarted a call can not be changed. Now, after the center ref indicated it was a goal, he went over and talked to the lineman. It is the lineman’s job to call offside and you will NEVER see a center ref call offside by themselves. The center ref most likely thought it was offside and wanted to make sure with the lineman that he maybe didn’t miss it. The lineman assured him that he wasn’t offside (even though he was) and the ref let the game continue. Now, had the lineman told the center, “ya maybe he was offside”, the center ref CAN change the call to offside even though he indicated a goal. This must be done before the ball is put back into play via kickoff. Once the kickoff takes place, the call can not be changed.
