Can Reeves Get It Right The 8th Time Around?
NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 26 — Dan Reeves, the coach of the Denver Broncos, could not help but notice the positioning of the decorative signs that had been placed around the Louisiana Superdome as reminders of Super Bowls past. He saw that the winning team from each year had been placed on the left and the losing team on the right. ”And you go around the 23 Super Bowls,” Reeves said this morning, ”and you get to this year’s Super Bowl and there are two helmets. And San Francisco is on the left, and Denver is on the right. I think somebody is anticipating San Francisco winning.” When the Broncos enter the Superdome on Sunday, Reeves will have been a participant in one-third of the 24 Super Bowls: two as a player-coach with the Dallas Cowboys, three as an assistant on Tom Landry’s Dallas staff and three as the head coach of the Broncos. Getting the Hang of It He believes he’s getting it right this time.
