Can pupils use glue guns in Primary schools?
A. Our H&S guidelines for Primary colleagues does provide guidance on the use of low-melt glue guns and their safe use in primary schools. We would recommend that you should have in place a written risk assessment covering the use of this piece of equipment in your school. This should demonstrate that you know and understand the main hazards that their use will involve and should record the control measures that you intend to implement to ensure that these hazards can be suitably dealt with.
