Now, some of the very same people who contributed to his victory are coming together to keep him on what they consider the progressive track. The goal is to push back against party drift to the Right. Can progressive blogs beat the Party elite? Well, in Illinois, where a crowded field is vying for Rahm Emanuel’s vacant seat, labor lawyer and author Tom Geoghegan has drawn the attention of progressive blogs from Blue America and Progressive Democrats for America to The Nation and Blogpac. He’s pushing for an increase in social security benefits, single payer healthcare, reducing the trade deficit, and an end to the bank bailout.
