Can Producers Council question Sun Pictures?
Sources say said that the Vijay-starrer ‘Vettaikkaran’ wasn’t releasing on Deepavali eve mainly because of the alleged decision taken by the distributors of the film (Sun Pictures). The distributors in the instant case felt that films produced by two heirs of the ‘powerful’ family of Tamil Nadu shouldn’t be seen to be clashing with each other on the Deepavali eve. It may be recalled that Udhayanidhi had already announced that his film ‘Aadhavan’ starring Suriya-Nayantara would be releasing on Deepavali. The decision by Sun has put the Tamil Film Producers’ Council in a tight spot. For, the Council had earlier taken a decision that big-banner films starring big stars should only be releasing during festive season and on important functions. It is said that the Council seems to be dilly-dallying as to how to bring Sun Pictures to toe their line.
