Can preventive medicine be primary and medical clinics aid our health care system?
Although preventative healthcare has been proven to be the best precaution against health problems such as diabetes, obesity, and even cancer, it is unlikely that it will be adopted as primary. Unfortunately, preventative healthcare is very expensive when compared to the costs to just treat a health problem (such as breast cancer). For example, a mammogram once a year for each woman over fifty is more expensive than the cost to treat every woman that gets breast cancer. Thus, the opportunity cost for the government/healthcare agencies is too low to support preventative healthcare. Most intellectuals and public health experts support preventative healthcare, but unless it is through volunteer work (such as teaching children about the positive effects of a healthy diet and exercise), most companies will be unwilling to pay for it universally.
Overall, it would be beneficial to society to adopt a preventative health system despite the costs, but it would not be beneficial to our pockets and the economy if the government had to handle them. Realistically (although I am a huge supporter of preventative healthcare), the government will unlikely adopt any preventative healthcare plans anytime soon.
I believe holistic clinics as our forefront could aid us in the cost of health care. In other words preventive medicine clinics aid us in our health and the medical clinics would be free to assist the more argent needs of our people. This would cut down on minor health problems in the emergency rooms and clinics. The upside would be our people would become aware of future illness and how to care for themselves before it became a major issue. Plus we would become more insightful to our own health care and better educated. Yes, our education systems do not truly assist us thoroughly in these matters. A: It’s cute to see someone so naive. What do you think the impact would be on our health if people ate healthy meals, exercised and didn’t smoke? It would be amazing. People don’t want to hear that, though. They want to abuse their bodies and then take a pill to make it all better.
