Can President Bush cap gas prices?
Yes but to what effect? The President can use his emergency powers and put a control on gas prices. Nixon did that during his term and there was no gas to be had. You could only buy gas on odd days and then you might get 10 gallons tops. Your day depended on your license plate number. We used to stand in line for hours to fill our tanks. The guys who distribute the gas simply would not sell it unless they could get their price. It got so bad that we used to take turns guarding our trucks at night because theives would siphon the gas from the trucks tanks. We actually had someone stand guard with a shotgun all night. Yeah, the price of gas was capped but you couldn’t get any.
