Can PreMark® be applied on top of slurry seal?

0

The answer to this question is not so straightforward because there are so many types and qualities of slurry seal. Some slurry seals, when heated, lose their adhesion to the road surface. In those cases, PreMark® will not work. In other situations, the slurry seal can “take the heat”. The rule of thumb: check the bond by doing a chisel test. Heat down a small piece of PreMark® (less than 3’). Once the material has cooled, do the chisel test and see of there is asphalt embedded on the back of the PreMark®. • If the answer is no, PreMark® is not the right product for the job. • If the answer is yes, then proceed with the PreMark® application.
