Question: I was put on Prednisone for 2 weeks due to Asthma. I was wondering if it can decrease the effectiveness of the depo shot. Is there any medication I shouldn’t take with the depo shot? Answer: No, Prednisone will not decrease the effectiveness of the Depo-Provera. Since the Depo-Provera shot bypasses the absorption phase in the gastrointestinal tract required by oral contraceptives, medications such as prednisone will not interfere with the effectiveness of the Depo shot.
