Can power supply plugs be fixed?
While there may not be a replacement plug available, I had the same problem and was able to fix it. After about four years of use, I could tell that the wires inside the round plug that goes into the back of my TiBook were fraying. Before they finally went south completely, I bought a replacement power adaptor. Since I move my TiBook between work and home daily, I found it convenient to have two adaptors, so I decided to try to fix the old one when it finally died. I guess this repair job is not for the faint of heart, or for anyone who doesn’t have a backup power supply in case it all goes wrong (which mine very nearly did). I’ll try to outline the steps I took as best as possible. I didn’t take any pictures along the way, unfortunately. 1) Open up the plug.
