Can Pole-Wrap be used to cover a jack post (adjustable basement support)?
Yes, Akron Products (www.akronproducts.com) sells a Mono Post available at Lowe’s that is easy to wrap and fits our 3″ Cap & Base set. Mono Post has no pins. Otherwise, you may need to surround the jack post with a cylinder to cover the pin and provide a uniform diameter. PVC or a cardboard carpet spindle work well here. Simply cut in half lengthwise on a table saw and glue together around the pole. Drill a couple 1/4 In. holes and fill the inside with an expandable foam like “Stuff” to secure. You can then apply Pole-Wrap as you normally would.
“I would like to use Pole-Wrap for my basement, however, on my pole there is a pin for adjusting the height and the pole sleeves are two different diameters – does Pole-Wrap still work for this?” Yes, Pole-Wrap can work for this application, but you may want to consider replacing your existing jack post with a type that does not have a pin. If you choose to keep your existing jack post, purchase the Wrap and the optional Cap & Base set for the larger diameter portion. Make sure that you completely flex each panel of the Wrap before installation and cut two holes in the Wrap to fit around the pin ends (The pin ends will show after installation, but can be painted the same color as your Wrap to obscure them). Follow the normal installation instructions, but apply the construction adhesive more liberally on the smaller diameter portion of you
