Can pilots activate airport runway lights with remote controls?

Yes, Pilots can activate runway lights with their Communication equipment. We can turn them on/off and change the brightness as well. We use full bright when we are really far away and/or are trying to find the airport and then dim the lights as we get closer to land so we are not blinded. Hypothetically f you take a date to a look out that oversees the airport you can do it from your car and really show off, the ladies “hypothetically” love it. It is necessary for pilots to turn on and off the rwy lights because the people in the tower don’t always work all night. The plane in the article was a commercial flight with passengers who paid to fly so they couldn’t land on a dark rwy but pilots not flying for hire can. Let’s see what other things we can tell him, maybe we can give away industry secrets on Hijack codes too…(not the transponder ones). Up and Locked like most I guess.
