Can people with Epilepsy get social assistance?
A person who has Epilepsy may qualify for assistance to prepare for and to obtain employment. Assistance may take the form of vocational assessment, counselling, academic, or technical training or job placement. Application should be made to your nearest office. Two other kinds of financial assistance are available in Canada, depending on a person’s income: General Assistance, usually referred to as welfare, is available for anyone in urgent need of financial aid. Special Assistance is for a person who is employed, but has extraordinary needs such as a high prescription drug costs. Application for each of these assistance programs should be made through the municipal social service department.
