Can people rescued by the Navy live in America?
A. The Navy has an obligation to maintain safety on the seas, which includes providing rescue and assistance mission to distressed vessels. That is no different for any other sea-going nation. However, the Navy does not make determinations on if foreign nationals are authorized to reside in the United States; asylum is granted on a case by case basis by the State Department.
