Can pcabackest create a background for other modes than Standard2?
The background estimator uses some of the particle rates (which are included in the Standard2 data only) to model the expected good xenon background rates. It produces estimated good xenon event rates for each detector (and each layer, if you so require) in the same format as Standard2 data, i.e. spectral histograms spanning 16 second time bins (129 channels by default, or 256 if you so specify.) Though the background data are in Standard2 format, the count rates apply to the observation, not to that mode. In other words, you can use that data to subtract background from any mode used during that observation. See the recipe on using pcabackest for an example.
