It is difficult to predict because of the many inter-related factors that contribute to the development of insecticide resistance in mosquitoes and field studies are required to investigate this. One laboratory study1 has shown that the speed of development of resistance to deltamethrin in An. stephensi larvae and adults was slowed by 6-21 % when selected over 16 generations (~190 days) with deltamethrin and PBO.
