Can patients with scoliosis use the Orthotrac?
When considering the Orthotrac for treatment in scoliosis patients, it is important to consider the patient’s low back “pain generator”. Is the patient’s low back pain due to their scoliosis specifically or does the patient have mechanical low back pain due to the stress the scoliosis is causing at other levels secondary to poor biomechanics? The Orthotrac has been used in patients with scoliosis with notable success; however, it is critical that the patient meets the Orthotrac criteria to maximize the chances for success. The use of the Orthotrac is at the discretion of prescribing physician.
