For patients on hemodialysis who plan to travel within the United States, dialysis sessions at centers near the destination city can be arranged. Social workers can help with coordinating this. Peritoneal dialysis patients can have their supplies shipped to their destination city, so they do not need to take all their supplies with them from their home location. Peritoneal dialysis patients can even go camping or on road trips as long as they have the necessary supplies. At least 2 months advance notice should be given to make all the necessary arrangements. Traveling abroad can be more difficult to arrange, but with advanced planning, is possible.
