Can patients go home on weekends? What kind of privileges do they have?
Most patients in IMAP have full privileges. What this means is that during the day, when they are not in program, they can leave the hospital to go shopping, visit friends or take in a movie. Patients are required to sign out when they leave the unit and return by 10 p.m. Late passes may be arranged for those who anticipate being out beyond that time. During the first weekend at Homewood, patients are required to remain in the hospital overnight. Day passes may be arranged. Most patients have a therapeutic pass for the weekends. This enables them to spend the weekend away from the hospital at home, or with family or friends, and to put into practice some of the skills they have learned in the program.
