Can ovaries release 2 eggs?

0

In most natural ovulation cycles only one egg is released, but of course there twins out there that have been conceived with no medical intervention. Women can release two eggs that are both fertilized or one egg that is fertilized and then split in two. AS far as any correlation between that and the use of BCP’s I don’t know of any. When women talk about seeing multiple eggs/follicles on ultrasound, they are most likely undergoing fertility treatments either using clomid or injectable meds such as Follistim or Gonal-F. Typically, women ovualte from one ovary at a time and alternate between the two (not ecessarily even). Women can ovulate from both ovaries in the same cycle, but that usually occurs during a treatment cycle of clomid or injectables. For example, when I did injectable follistim an ultrasound showed that I had 9 mature follicles/eggs that were ready to be released and they were on both ovaries.
