Can other scholarships, grants or loans affect my Michigan need-based scholarship or grant?
Yes, in some cases. The Michigan Competitive Scholarship and Michigan Tuition Grant are “tuition specific” awards and so other tuition based scholarships could impact your eligibility for those programs. In addition, these programs as well as the other need-based programs are limited to meeting financial need. If other awards/resources you receive meet your financial need, state need-based funds may be reduced or cancelled. The college financial aid office will adjust the Competitive Scholarship or Tuition Grant if an over-award occurs.
