Can ordinary people make good radio or television interviewers?
Yes, some people are better at doing it than others. Most radio and tv interviewers and presenters usually start working for a local radio station or newspaper as a runner or ‘go-for’. If they show a talent for interviewing and the media while employed as a go-for, they might get a job working on some news stories along with more experienced staff who will show them what to do. This might lead onto a number of years in college getting a journalism degree and then either going back to the local radio station or newspaper and with cap in hand begging for a ‘real’ job. The same thing happens with actors who become movie directors.
