Can Opera Cause a BSoD?

I was forwarded an e-mail from our Tech Department that said: Please be informed that Opera is not supported by the Tech department. We do preinstall IE and Firefox for your browsing needs. Opera is not compatible with our system and is just installed for the purpose of notes which is used by the majority of the instructors. Please use either Firefox or IE and see if the problem persists. This may also be the cause of the BSOD that you had as well. We have nearly 800 teachers who use Opera every day and they love Opera. I do not believe that Opera could cause a Blue Screen but I would like to get your opinion.
