Can Openfiler be used in a high-availability/disaster recovery scenario?
Yes it can. Openfiler provides full high-availability/failover functionality with disk-to-disk block-level data replication that functions over industry standard networking protocols. Two Openfiler Systems can be configured as identical mirrors, with the source data being replicated to a remote site for disaster recovery purposes. In the event of a hardware failure at the primary site, the secondary Openfiler System can automatically takeover serving of data to clients on the network in a fully transparent fashion.
