Can one find information of person about a person using his/her Social Security Number?

It’s easier than you think. The Social Security Administration has a fraud unit that will help you find out if someone is using your SSN. It’s a completely free service and all you need to do is go down to your local Social Security Office (so they can make sure YOU are the right person who is supposed to have the number) and file an inquiry. They’ll take it from there. Then you go to a site like FreeCreditReport.com and see if someone has been fraudulently applying for credit in your name. The rule of thumb is that you have to sign a form for anyone to even access your credit. If you didn’t personally sign, dispute everything on that report that isn’t yours and buy the protection to alert you everyone someone does run your credit.

You don’t need such a website……you need a lawyer if someone else is using your social security number. FIRST thing you should do is contact a lawyer. SECOND, notify the police. THIRD, notify the credit bureaus FOURTH, notify the Social Security Administration. This is not a genealogy question. It is a legal issue.

If you are talking about a dead person, then yes, you can. You can send away for their Social Security Application. This will give you their name, their date of birth, their place of birth, and their parents names. You can also use the SSN to get an FBI file (if they have one) of the deceased person through the Freedom of Information Act. If you are referring to a person who is alive, well, short of being an employer who is checking out a potential employee, then I would have to say that it is most likely illegal.

What is your question?

*Sadly, we had to bring back ads too. Hopefully more targeted.
