Can OMAO inspect my 20 foot Boston Whaler?
Yes. However, timeliness of the inspection availability of an inspector from the OMAO Fleet Inspection Office during the early stages of the Small Boat Program implementation may require that some or many inspections be contracted to independent and accredited surveyors or marine engineering firms. OMAO Inspectors will usually not be able to inspect any boats which are not included in the initial inspection request. For example, an OMAO inspector shows up to inspect a large motorboat and the question of “Hey, can you take a look at this little boat here?” arises. Generally, these types of requests are difficult to fulfill.
