Can North Somerset Council introduce a licensing scheme for mobile food stalls?
Mr. Dufty, Chairman of the Leisure Facilities Committee of Nailsea Town Council addressed the meeting, outlining the case for increased control with regard to mobile catering outlets. He suggested there has been a gradual proliferation of such outlets in recent months, with several currently operating in and around the Nailsea area. He highlighted the particular problems associated with these traders and suggested that in order to minimise the nuisance often caused to local residents steps needed to be taken to introduce and enforce a system of licensing to control their operation. In responding to the issues raised by Mr. Dufty, reference was made to the fact that a proposal to introduce such a licensing scheme had been considered by the Environmental Services Committee two years ago but the Committee had resolved not to proceed with the scheme.
