Can non-muslim women attend funerals at a mosque and if so what do you wear?
According to Sharia, a non-Muslim can attend a funeral of a deceased Muslim and vise versa. Some people take the deceased person to the mosque for a special prayer, called Jenaza. Since you won’t participate in that prayer, it is meaningless to go to the mosque. Going to the burial is a contravercial topic. Most scholars say that it is not recommended for women to go the actual burial because of their softer heart (They may cry out load when they see their beloved person disappearing to underground). Other scholars allow on the condition that there is no load crying. In short, you can go with your Muslim friends (women) and go where they go. You do not have to wear any specific clothes – just make sure to dress decent (no mini skirts, for example). You should feel very comfortable if you are with female friends.
