Independent prescribers Nurse, pharmacist and optometrist independent prescribers are not currently permitted to prescribe unlicensed medicines. Supplementary prescribers Supplementary prescribers are able to prescribe any medicine, including an unlicensed medicine, that is listed in an agreed clinical management plan (CMP).
