Can new vinyl siding be installed over my existing wood or asbestos shingles?
In many cases the answer is yes. It really depends on the condition of the existing surface. If the siding is not rotten we prefer to leave it on, as long as it does not protrude too far from the wall. There is some added insulation value in leaving it in place. To know for sure, we’d need to see it.
