Can Neodymium magnets be machined?
Neodymium magnets are prone to chipping and cracking and hence do not lend themselves well to machining. However, Neodymium can be coarsely ground using generous amounts of coolant. The coolant helps keep the temperature low and reduces the chance of heat fracturing and the risk of fire. Generally because of the various attributes of Neodymium magnets it is not advisable to machine handle them.
