Can natural medicine cure a cough?
I always think it is a good idea to avoid giving children (or adults, for that matter) antibiotics if at all possible. In your daughter’s case, if there is no evidence of bacterial infection such as fever or green/yellow colouration to the mucus, then antibiotics are very unlikely to help anyway. However, a more natural approach may well prove effective. In my experience, children who experience persistent coughing associated with mucus are very often sensitive to certain foods. Foods which commonly lead to excessive mucus formation are dairy products such as milk, cheese and ice cream. Dairy sensitivity can lead to other problems as well including eczema, dark circles under the eyes and red ears. Another sign to look for is a little horizontal crease across the nose caused by the child’s frequent attempts to wipe mucus from the nose (also known as the ‘allergic salute’). Frequently, children who are sensitive to foods also can become quite wedded to them. Does your daughter love milk,
