Can my radiator system influence wether or not hot water comes out of my shower / taps?
I wouldn’t have thought it could influence the water temperature at the taps…. But I’m no heating expert! I had some trouble with my heating system a few years back and helped the engineer out while he was struggling to fix it! Most modern heating systems are divided into two halves… One half is the ‘Sealed half’, and this supplies water to your radiators via a pump system. An air lock in this section can prevent water circulating properly to your radiators. The other half of the system is the ‘Open half’ and this supplies the hot taps! As water is run-off at the taps, it is replaced by cold water coming in to the boiler, which is then heated. A modern boiler, such as a condenser boiler, has one unit called the heat exchange unit… It is this component which is responsible for warming the water from the heat supply (gas) and making it available to the system. Usually this is ‘connected’ to the closed half of the system to supply the radiators….. But when the taps (hot) are run,
