It is quite possible that she could get pregnant from another dog and still want to mate with the cocker. Dogs will mate multiple times with multiple males while in heat if they can. My family once rescued a German Shorthair Pointer that had been loose while in heat and appeared to have conceived puppies by at least three different fathers, a rottie, a lab, and some other i can’t remember. You probably won’t be able to tell if there are puppies in there, but take her to the vet immediately after she goes out of heat and have her spayed. If you wait any longer, the puppies will become obvious and the vet may charge more for the spaying procedure, or you could end up with a litter of unwanted mutts. Raising a litter is very expensive, especially if there are complications such as problems during birth or sick puppies. Furthermore, there are already way too many unwanted mutts living and dying in shelters every day. And yes, with determination, the cocker could eventually get to her.
