Can my landlord make me pay a security deposit on my apt. when nobody else in the building had to pay one?
It would be an issue if he were collecting a security deposit from you because you are black, or because you are Jewish, or because you are Japanese, or because you have children…in other words, if he is discriminating against you due to your race, nationality, religion, or familial status. Otherwise, it’s not illegal.
