Can my hyperactive thyroid cause depression and me feel like everyone is against me?

0

It happened to me years ago. I was feeling kind of depressed, yet I had an “inner rage” that would cause me to get upset at the slightest thing. If someone cut me of in traffic I would chase them down, swear, etc. Me, an average, professional woman, almost snapped one day and came this close to beating up a woman who cut me off! I guess I was paranoid, I thought everyone was talking about me, or staring at me. I was always yelling and people must have though I was nuts. I always seemed to be in a bad mood, and crying for no reason. I finally couldn’t take it anymore and saw my doctor thinking I was losing it. My blood tests revealed that my thyroid levels were sky high! I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and put on med called PTU. All that crazy stuff went away! My blood levels are checked regularly even now (years later). I only had to take meds for a couple of years.
