I have lived in Maryland most of my life, and I have never lived in an unsafe neighborhood. Basically my parents decided it was time to move out of Baltimore once our neighborhood started to make a change for the worse, but that was about it for me possibly living in a high crime area. I generally agree with Adam that most of MD’s high crime activity comes from Baltimore city and from what I understand, PG County (Prince George’s) as well which is one of the MD counties that boarders DC. There are a few things to keep in mind about DC, technically this area is considered the Baltimore/Washington area. You have two cities that are less than 50 miles apart and a lot of people in between. This metro area is one of the largest in the US in terms of population. Obviously you have a lot of being here who live in between and commute back and forth from both cities. You also have a lot of tech and government jobs in MD as well as DC.
