Can my expected child have my last name on the birth certificate even though I am not married to the mother?
you can put whatever you want on the birth certificate. when i had my first daughter my now husband and i were not married, in the hospital they used my last name on our (me and baby) wrist bands to identify us but on the birth certificate you can put whatever you want (even if it’s made up!) as for the medicade i don’t know how it works in georgia but im in pennsylvania and they didn’t make my husband pay anything back even though his name was on the birth certificate.
No, all you need to do is sign the Paternity Paperwork claiming the child as your own. Even if you didn’t she can still give the baby your last name. Yes, medicaid will come after you, it may not be immediate but they will (my friend just got told he will need to repay and they are still together and the baby is 20 months) Many ins. co. now will cover partners even if they are not married. Check on this.
You shouldn’t have any problem with having to repay medicaid as long as you all don’t lie to get it. As long as you show idea and tell them you are the father they should let you go on the birth certificate and you sign it. They won’t let her put you if you are not there. I know thats how it is here in FL.
