Can my employer fire me while I am off work due to a workers compensation injury?
Yes. In Mississippi an employee may be hired or fired by the employer at any time without having to state a reason. If you are injured, have a permanent physical impairment and can do any job that is available at your employer’s facility, then your employer may be required under the American Disabilities Act to make a reasonable accommodation and allow you to continue to work. Be sure to consult an attorney as there is a short limitation on filing such a claim with the EEOC.
