Can my dog have A. phagocytophilum and not test positive on the SNAP 4Dx Test?
• As the test for A. phagocytophilum is an antibody test, it is possible for your dog to be infected with the organism and not show up as positive on the SNAP 4Dx Test. In some cases of acute infection, the antibody titer level has not yet reached a level that is detectable by the SNAP 4Dx Test. • If you suspect A. phagocytophilum infection, but the SNAP 4Dx test is negative, it is recommended to retest the animal in one to three weeks. Please keep in mind that the clinical signs of A. phagocytophilum closely resemble those of Lyme disease and E. canis infection.
