Can my department agree to pay the taxes for a non-resident, that is, can a “net” check be issued?
Yes. Indicate on the payment form that you want a “net check” issued and A/P will calculate the actual costs. For example, if you wish to have a $100 “net check” issued to an individual subject to a 30% withholding, the actual charge to your department will be $142.86 (30% tax on that amount produces a $100 net payment).
