Can my child go back and look at the story before taking a reading test?
Tests on a short story may be taken open book. When students are reading several different unrelated selections, we realize students cannot remember the details of a particular story. However, parents could inform the student that a test will be on a particular story, and the student should go back and reread the story to prepare for the test. In this way, the student will likely remember the details asked for on the test, and will be able to complete the test in less time. As the student progresses in the grade levels, you will find the questions become more thoughtful, interpretive, and analytical so that the answers to the questions are not as objective. However, objective facts are needed to prove the basic thesis or conclusion a student may be giving. Tests which are to be taken open book will note that fact either on the test or in the lesson plans. Can my child take subjects at different grade levels?
