Can my child bring in birthday treats to celebrate his/her birthday?

0

Our district has adopted a Wellness Policy where food is no longer used for celebrations of any kind. We do, however, have a special way of celebrating your child’s birthday. The month before your child’s birthday you will be sent a notice letting you know the date your child’s celebration will take place. On that day you may send in the following: a birthday balloon for us to tie to the back of your child’s chair, his/her favorite storybook to be read to the class, his/her favorite stuffed animal, and, if you would like, party bags for the class, which should contain only non-edible items. In addition, s/he will receive a birthday crown and badge, we will sing Happy Birthday, and his/her classmates will make a special birthday cake book for your child!
