According to Robert Beeman, squirrel requires an impact velocity of 415 fps with 8 grain pellets (3 ft-lbs impact energy) and rabbits require an impact velocity of around 530 fps with 8 grain pellets (5 ft-lbs impact energy).(1) Assuming your gun actually gets 450 fps with 8 grain pellets, your gun would produce 3.6 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. That’s insufficient power to consistently and humanely take rabbits at the muzzle, much less at hunting ranges. Your gun would have enough energy to take squirrel out to 10 yards, with perfect shot placement.(2) Given the extremely limited power of your gun, I would not recommend using it for hunting. I think I’d recommend you use that gun for punching paper and rolling soda cans.
