Can my 12 week old kitten really get pregnant?
I live in Leatherhead, Surrey, and use pet doctors. The vet told me the same thing- 6 months, but I’m going to get my girl done at 4.5 so that we don’t risk her going into heat before. And your girl is only 3 months old, so she’s really young to go out. Some of our friends have had many many cats, and they didn’t let kittens outside without being on a halter and lead until they were 8 months (big, confident, and strong enough to defend themselves, as well as having had all their jabs, several worm/flea treatments, and spaying/neutering). It was a safety issue, and none of their cats have had problems. Also, young kittens are more likely to get confused and lost, so I’d say it’s too risky right now to let your girl out. When she weighs enough, tell the vet that you’d rather have her fixed around 4-5 months to be sure, and do it when you can spend at least a weekend with her after the surgery so that you’re there when she’s not feeling so hot and is recovering. Here’s the vet I use, they
