Can more than one aircraft share the same selcal code?
Contrary to popular belief, the answer is yes. It is in fact very common for several aircraft to share the same selcal code as there are only 10,920 unique codes available. The database currently contains over 23,000 individual aircraft that the selcal codes are known for so it would be physically impossible for each one to have its own unique code. ASRI (the selcal issuing body) does make every effort to ensure that duplicate selcal code allocations are to operators that fly in areas that will never clash, eg. AB-CD may be issued to a domestic operator in Australia but is also issued to a domestic operator in Europe. There are occasions when 2 aircraft with the same selcal code will be on the same frequency but once the radio operator realises this, he/she will usually move of the aircraft to a different frequency.
