Can Monkeys and Apes eat human food?

0

In most cases they could eat human food. There really is very little difference between digesting plants and meat. Meat is just easier to digest and more concentrated in nutrients that can be digested. The main thing that can’t be digested by digestive enzymes is cellulose. Most plant eaters have microbes to digest those. Gorillas have what they call a hind gut to extract energy out of the cellulose. Human food is generally very concentrated and more easy to digest than what a monkey would eat. It would be like a treat but probably not very good for them if they ate it all the time. That could be said about humans eating it also depending how careful they are. We are especially good at digesting starches and complex sugars by the way. We would probably get more out of starchy foods than a monkey or ape, but not much else.. They probably aren’t genetically similar enough to mate unless some helped it along in a laboratory and that applies to the the closest ones chimps and bonobos. Othe
