Can modern DVD players play region 1 DVDs?
Even the first DVD players could play region one discs. Unless you bought your player in a region one area, you will need a multi-region player. Some can only play a different region disc a certain amount of times, some can switch between regions up to a certain amount of times before locking on one, and others can be unlocked with a code, or by burning a firmware update onto a CD and running it on the player.
