Can Michael Jacksons Family Recover Damages for His Death?
It has been one year since Michael Jackson died. For much of that year, it has been alleged that the doctor who was treating the pop legend gave him a fatal dose of sedatives. Last Friday, on the first anniversary of Michael’s death, Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the doctor in U.S. District Court. The complaint claims that the doctor was professionally negligent and seeks damages for Michael’s death. Specifically, it claims that the doctor was reckless in the administration of the sedatives and that the drug propofol was administered in Mr. Jackson’s home when the drug is normally only administered in hospitals. Michael Jackson’s death was not only a loss for his family and friends but also for his millions of fans.
