Can mice get wise to mouse traps?
This is a great question. I was raised in the pest control industry and once received a call while working at my parent’s office. It was a call I’ll never forget. The woman had a rodent problem. The mouse was so smart. It was taking the food and leaving the traps untripped. So, there was a simple solution. A technician took a glue board to her home where they placed a teaspoon of peanut butter (they love peanut butter) in the center of the board. The call I received was the next day. She was furious. She awoke to find that the mouse had indeed found the glue board and peanut butter and had gotten stuck to the glue. But, he was still too smart. The mouse chewed off his own leg to escape. Now, this happened once in my nearly twenty years experience. There are many ways to get rid of rodents. Pellets are great. They cause internal bleeding, but not to worry.
